Our local guide, Antonio, was full of interesting facts and extremely accommodating. We even stopped for some poncha at a great bar off the tourist track (highly recommended!).

Even if it’s cloudy, don’t be put off as the weather changes from one area of the island to another and if there are clouds on the peaks, it’s still breathtaking.

Canyoning was the first time for me. It was epic. Definitely recommended experience for everyone to try out. Just make sure you pick the right level. Be true with yourself! There are some high jumps. It was cold, I think the water about 5 degrees. Air temperature about 8. Altitude 1500m+.
But we had 5ml wetsuits, neoprene socks, canyoning boots, helmets, kept us surprisingly warm. Beautiful going down the Ribiero Frío.

Coasteering was amazing the day before. The sea water is about 18 degrees so was a lot warmer!! Air temperature about 16 being by the coast. Awesome jumps. Great scenery. Snorkeling and chocolate bar was a great plus!

Our guide was very nice, and really informative. He took us to get some super, delicious and authentic Poncha at a little bar in the mountains (so cheap too). That was a real highlight. We also stopped for so many amazing views of the mountains and we even went offroading for a bit. We stopped at a fishing village and had some spare time to walk around and finished our day at the Madeira Skywalk (platform with glass floor leading down to the beach).

Our tour was included in our travel package and we enjoyed it thoroughly. They picked us up, and dropped us off at our hotel.

Beto and Nuno were exceptional .. now I would like to try canyoning in my home too .. but will I find such exceptional professionals? Plus: We got everything we needed, not just equipement and guidance, but addtionally a pick-up from our accommodation and afterwards Beto recommended a very good restaurant where he just brought us. Moreover Luís told us a lot of interesting things regarding flora, fauna and geology of the terrain we were exploring. For me the experience was perfect!
